 Doctors Abernethy, Sonner, & Wells truly pride themselves on delivering comfortable, personalized care. Each is sincerely dedicated to maintaining a high level of knowledge and skill in the ever-changing field of dentistry. Throughout the year the doctors attend advanced education courses presented by leading dentists all over the U.S. completing over 80 hours of continuing education individually. Each doctor remains closely involved within their dental community by attending both monthly & annual meetings with various organizations.
All three doctors sustain delicate skill in providing dentistry with a focus on both function and cosmetics. Each is a certified Invisalign¨ provider, offering patients a clear, aesthetic way to align teeth and a certified Lumineers¨ provider, offering veneers without local anesthesia or drilling, on a unique basis.
In addition, our doctors provide superior cosmetic dental care with porcelain crowns, veneers, and tooth colored fillings. ANNA ABERNETHY
Dr. Anna Abernethy is a native of Concord NC, but has lived in Raleigh for the past 10 years. She came to Raleigh to attend college & graduated from Meredith College Magna Cum Laude in 2001 with a BS in biology and a minor in chemical physics. After completing college, Dr Abernethy attended & graduated from UNC Dental School in 2005. While at UNC, she was the co-leader of Give Kids a Smile Day, coordinator of the UNC Head Start Program, and the team captain of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
She is affiliated with the American Dental Association, American Association of Women Dentists, Academy of General Dentistry, and the Raleigh-Wake County Dental Society.
She is happily married to Jason Douglas of Raleigh NC, who is currently a Realtor with Remax. Together they enjoy traveling & hunting and have even gone as far as Africa to explore the different wildlife. Dr. Abernethy also entertains herself with reading and weight training.

JILL SONNER
Dr. Jill Sonner was born & raised in Raleigh NC. She attended both UNC Wilmington & North Carolina State for college. She received her undergraduate degree from NCSU in 1999 with high honors, obtaining a BS in Biological Sciences. During college she supported research staff at NIEHS and performed an independent study focusing on Diabetes.
Dr. Sonner is also a graduate of UNC Dental School. She continued her dental education following dental school by attending a residency program at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center. Here she gained skill in treating medically compromised and geriatric patients, as well as learned advanced surgery techniques and surgical implant placement.
Dr. Sonner serves on her local dental society executive board as community service chair and serves on the Eastern Community Advisory Board for Medical Security. She was also recently appointed as the PACE chairwoman for the Academy of General Dentistry. She is passionate about organized dentistry and volunteers much of her time participating in legislature events promoting dentistry.
Dr. Sonner has a best friend and boyfriend of 6 years, Jonathan Boling, who is a financial analyst for SAS. |

ANITA WELLS
Dr. Anita Jones Wells is a North Carolina native who grew up in the Pinehurst area and has spent the past 10 years studying and practicing dentistry in Chapel Hill. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she completed both her Bachelor of Science in Biology and her Doctor of Dental Surgery, graduating with honors. She is actively involved in local, state, and regional societies maintaining membership with the American Dental Association, American Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Society of Anesthesiology, and American Association of Women Dentists. She is a member of North Carolina Dental Society and is the Vice President of the Orange County Dental Society. She also spends time in several civic and social organizations such as the Cary Junior Women's Club and Psi Omega National Dental Fraternity. In addition, Dr. Wells had the honor of being asked to join the faculty of the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. She genuinely enjoys her part-time position in the Prosthetic Department helping the dentists of tomorrow further their education.
Dr. Wells is happily married to Dr. Andrew Wells, who is a Raleigh Orthodontist. Last year they welcomed their first baby boy named Ashton to their family. They enjoy spending time as a family at Lake Hyco.

CAROL ADAMS
Carol Adams grew up in Michigan, but has lived in the Raleigh area for the past twenty-five years. She has over twenty years experience as a dental assistant. Carol has had the privilege of working with many Pediatric, Orthodontic and General Dentists.
Carol has been on three mission trips to provide dentistry to the children of Belarus affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. She is also very active in her church.
Carol is happily married to Jim Adams, who the owner of a computer consultant business. They are proud parents of their two children, Mike and Emily. They enjoy spending time with friends and family. Carol also loves to throw pottery on her pottery wheel or relax reading a good book. |
